We failed to offer a credible alternative to the Tory agenda. It is not that there was no support for such an alternative: the option was not on offer, only an anodyne, fearful set of non policies apeing the Conservative tenets of austerity, hopelessness, and a continued war on the poor and vulnerable. It is hardly surprising that such a craven position failed to inspire the sympathies of the electorate. If you are inclined to agree with the austerity line, you are already going to vote for the real thing, not a Labour lite version.

I've spent the last few years observing the effects of Tory policies on the members of our society least able to bear the burden of 'austerity' measures, and more of it: those people are the ones that Labour should be appealing to, and offering a way forward: but they are the ones who feel utterly abandoned and alienated y the Labour party as it is now, nationally, and locally.

I don't want an election victory by an institutionalised Labour party stuffed full of careerist polititicians who want to be elected and given a chance of self promotion - I want only a Labour government that ats according to the founding principles of the Labour movement, and acts, and speaks, for those in need, and those who are being stigmatised and demonised under the pretext of an 'austerity' regime which too many of the current Labour establishment condone.

Jeremy Corbyn is not the Messiah: he is a good man, in the centre of a phenomenal sea change in British politics, and the channel for the expression of a message that the party needs to read and understand.Mrs Angryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00586223909475832791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-28157322930416718242015-09-08T13:39:22.300+01:002015-09-08T13:39:22.300+01:00And what change can a good opposition make? Sure we can spend the next 10 years out on protest marches and signing petitions, but meanwhile deals will be made and policies implemented that no doubt will have a negative impact on working families.

I dread to think what state this country will be in 10 years. The BBC - emasculated. The NHS - privatised. The Union with Scotland - gone. The EU - We will be out and struggling. I don't want opposition whether it's pure, strong or full of integrity. Give me control of the government levers any day.Richard Loguehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18327732549473616265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-48850493005701547972015-08-25T11:04:49.457+01:002015-08-25T11:04:49.457+01:00Better a good opposition than a bad ruling party ....Better a good opposition than a bad ruling party ...Red Sonianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-10063112676214762582015-08-21T20:48:55.563+01:002015-08-21T20:48:55.563+01:00Dear Mrs A .
