You refer to Barnet Momentum, which is not representative of Barnet Labour as a whole, and I would guess - or hope - that the infantile comments quoted in the Independent article are not representative of Barnet Momentum as a whole. I can't say for sure, as I have never been a member, and have no idea how large the membership is, or the views they hold.

To conflate all left of centre party members with Momentum, and/or antisemitism is absolutely unacceptable, and unfair.

I deeply resent any implication that the vast majority of mainstream Labour voters, either locally or nationally, are in any way antisemitic, and would regard this allegation as a slur.

That said, no one can deny that the issue of antisemitism, and the way in which is it is dealt with, is not a serious problem, and one which is being badly mishandled by the leadership.

I am, like any other ordinary party member would be, appalled by the minority of troublemaking, conspiracy theorists on the lunatic fringe who do try to use association with the party as a cover for their agenda. To say, for example, as someone quoted (anonymously) in the article is supposed to have said, that the security used outside synagogues, schools & community buildings is in some way meant 'to generate an atmosphere of insecurity' is both highly offensive and stupid in the extreme. The ravings about zionism are vile, and equally stupid.

If as the article claims, some of the people who made such comments hold 'committee positions' in the local Labour party I hope there will be immediate action taken to hold them to account. Not sure why this has not already happened.

In the meanwhile, while this matter continues to pull the party apart, people are sleeping in shop doorways, families are struggling to feed their children, the Tory council in Barnet is facing meltdown as a result of their financial incompetence, and the nation faces the unprecedented catastrophe of Brexit. The alt right is in the ascendent, Jewish populations and Roma populations are facing new levels of persecution throughout Europe, Islamophobia is rampant everywhere, and we have Trump in the White House.

I think it is time we all pulled together, stopped arguing, and got to grips with the state of crisis locally, nationally, and globally.Mrs Angryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00586223909475832791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-66596180237543540452018-08-03T23:20:58.551+01:002018-08-03T23:20:58.551+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mrs Angryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00586223909475832791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-16045380158724724022018-08-03T11:45:10.680+01:002018-08-03T11:45:10.680+01:00While I continue to be appreciative of your indefa...While I continue to be appreciative of your indefatigable work in keeping these goings on at the forefront, can I refer back to your
post election blog back in May and the discussion about antisemitism in Barnet, and draw your attention to this recent meeting:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-party-antisemitism-momentum-barnet-jews-jeremy-corbyn-israel-a8473501.html

Do you still maintain as you did in your May blog, that this is a fringe phenomenon, both locally and nationally and that Momentum has no influence either in Barnet or in the wider party?amiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07540512680399782078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6371203489316363738.post-70500956702493705012018-07-31T10:06:08.152+01:002018-07-31T10:06:08.152+01:00Hi another one who visits your site from time to t...Hi another one who visits your site from time to time. Thankfully I no longer live in Barnet and instead enjoy open libraries, properly maintained parks and clean streets.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07114166468553868687noreply@blogger.com
